How to Pay for Your Home Improvement

You want to add a deck to your home to enjoy your evenings outside with your family and friends. You have cash sitting in your bank or you have a few credit cards that you can tap into to finance your home improvement. What is the best option? Should you get a Home Equity Line of Credit? Making the right decision is based on knowing various pros and cons of different ways to finance your project and your current situation. Even if you have cash sitting in the bank, it may not always be the best option.

If you have cash at hand, it should be earning at least 5% in a savings account. If you are not earning 5% from your bank, dump them and go to a bank that will give you at least 5% on your money. Search the Internet and you will be able to find a few online savings accounts, offered by well known banks like Citibank, Emigrant bank or HSBC that will give you a 5% return on your deposit.

If your credit is good and the project is small, search for a credit card that will give you 0% interest rate for a year. Apply online and get approved instantly. Within a couple of weeks, you will get your card and you will be able to use it for your home improvement project. You can use the same technique for store credit cards, Master Card or Visa. When you get a loan on 0% interest rate, make sure that you don't miss a payment. To avoid missing a payment, use online payments offered by many banks for free or the online payment option of the credit card company. Using an online payment, setup a scheduled payment plan for the monthly payment to the credit card. If you miss a payment, your credit card company will withdraw your 0% rate and may even impose a high rate on the remaining balance. So it is very important that you don't miss a single payment. Be aware that when you use a credit card to finance your home improvement project, you cannot claim any tax deductions on the interest you pay. Hence, it is extremely important that you retain your 0% interest rate till you pay off the loan.

If your home improvement project is a large one and you want to do it in stages, HELOC, or Home Equity Line of Credit, is a good option. Search the Internet to get the best rate. Find a bank that not only offers the best rate but also waives the finance charges. When you take a HELOC loan, you are essentially putting your home as collateral and the interest you pay may be tax deducible.

Refinancing your home is a good choice if you have a large equity in your home or you want to reduce your existing mortgage rate. Also, if your home improvement project will add substantial equity to you home, refinancing is an attractive option. You will also get tax benefits on the interest you pay.

Obtaining a second mortgage to finance your home improvement project makes sense if you get a low fixed interest rate and the interest rate on your first mortgage is even lower than the second mortgage. A second mortgage involves less paper works than a full refinancing.

Are you thinking about getting your money from your company's 401 (K) plan? Forget it. Don't use your 401 (K) plan money for your home improvement. A 401 (K) plan is for your retirement not for your home improvement projects. If you are not old enough (59.5 years or more) to take a distribution, you will have to pay tax and 10% penalty for any withdrawal from your 401 (K) plan. Borrowing against your 401 (K) savings is also not a wise choice because 1) you have to pay it back with the above average interest rate 2) money borrowed from your 401 (K) plan will not earn anything in your 401 (K) plan till you pay it back completely. On top of that, if you are laid off you will be hit with the tax and a 10% penalty unless you pay the remaining balance in one lump sum.

Don't make a decision on haste. Weigh the pros and cons of various methods discussed above and your current situation. Find the best way to finance your home improvement project using other people's money and without hitting your pocket book hard.

Google AdWords Strategies

I was driving down the street the other day and saw a billboard. A big billboard. One so big it practically eclipsed the sun! It advertised a sunny vacation destination and as I gazed at that picture I was momentarily whisked away in my mind to a beach with lapping waves.

Then I had to laugh because almost directly after that billboard came a small one. Not just smaller tiny. I dont remember what it advertised but the disparity between the two heightened the importance of the vacation and minimized (in my mind, at least) the message of the second.

It made me think of the internet and internet marketing. The Internet is the great leveler in that it allows each business large or small to potentially reach the purchasing public in the same way. Theoretically the small mom-and-pop shop and a giant, multinational corporation has the same amount of real estate, your computer screen, to make their pitch. If youre closer to the mom-and-pop shop than you are to the multinational corporation, here are some ideas to help you get your name out there. After all, no matter what size of start you have, its only one sale after another that will keep you in business!

Google AdWords are a great way to do that, for the same reason: Your one-man-show (or, one-woman-show!) has the same amount of AdWord space as meganational corporations like GE or GM.

These popular ads are 4 lines long. The top line is the title, there are two middle lines, and the fourth line is the URL. Every single add is the same. Unfortunately, too many businesses use the same-old approach when writing AdWords ads.

Here are some great ideas to help you AdWords fly off the screen and shake your prospects by the shoulders and say hey, go to this site!

Title Line Ask a question in your Title line and dont answer it in the middle two lines. Instead, simply entice your prospect to visit your site for more information. (For example, Do you want to earn more money without working harder?)

Remember the AIDA principle (Attention, Interest, Decision, Action) and get your prospects attention with the title). Be shocking, outrageous, and catchy.

Body text Write down what you want to say, then work on shortening it. Dont try shortening your ad first. Dont waste words. Each word is precious. Be sure to use power words and short, readable sentences. Write several ideas down and have a few friends pick their favorite.

Throughout your ad, use powerful, motivating words like free, fast, and new. (For example, Hurry, for a limited time, you can get this free solution downloaded to your computer instantly! Tantalize your prospects with the words learn more.

This section requires you to use the Interest and Decision portions of the AIDA sales-writing format.

URL Dont forget about the URL! Harness the power of the fourth AdWords line. If you dont have a URL that talks about your business, consider buying one. Preferably, buy a URL that shows how you provide a solution dont highlight the problem. (For example, www.DownloadMoneyMakingIdeasNow.com)

Use a clever URL to help people take action and click to your site.

One great AdWords ad might look like this:

Want to earn huge cash online? Quit your job. Dont waste time commuting. Live free! www.Work-From-Home-Success.com

Another one might look like this:

Dont click on this site. We want serious investors. No window-shoppers. www.Double-Your-Money-In-One-Year.com

Enjoy the same sized billboard as the multi-national corporations. Be clever and daring and get customers to your site!

The Seven Deadly Sins of Small Business

Owners and executives must be leaders first and managers second. As leaders our task is first and foremost to be about doing the right things, and the seven deadly sins, should be on the top of your list as leadership issues you are dealing with on a regular basis. Building a small business is one of the most rewarding, but risky ventures one could possibly venture into. Most papers on small business deal primarily with financing and risk management, which are only symptoms of the real issues. Your bank account is just the scorecard of how well you have developed your leadership skills relative to accomplishing the right things.

This paper will help you avoid many of the costly pitfalls of operating a small business, assuming you heed the advice. Avoiding these pitfalls will in turn help you to conserve cash, develop market share, increase sales, improve customer loyalty, increase employee retention and build efficiencies into your operation.

The seven deadly sins include 1) Poor or non-existent business planning; 2) Lack of a strategic objective; 3) Lack of marketing strategies and tactics; 4) Management in the place of leadership; 5) Poor or non-existent systems; 6) Failure to utilize an appropriate leadership style; 7) Care and feeding of sacred cows. Business owners and executives who do not understand them, do not have experience with them and therefore do not appreciate their impact and significance often ignore these critical leadership issues.

Thirty-five years of building and operating small businesses has taught me that most small business problems are not money problems at all, and in fact money is just an indicator that much deeper issues are at play. Beware; the market is a wicked taskmaster, these seven deadly sins are like small doses of poison injected into your operation by the very marketplace you are trying to conquer, and they provide a slow painful death to the naive.

Here are the seven deadly sins in order of priority.

1) Poor Business Planning

Most small businesses do not have even a summary business plan, and of those that do, many are cookie cutter business plans built with the help of a piece of software. At a minimum a business plan should have an executive summary; a company overview with company history and its current status; the companies strategic objective; a description of the companies products and services; a list of the companies intellectual properties including patents, copyrights, trademarks, processes and know-how; a market analysis; a competitive analysis, which includes competitors and their market position, and their strengths and weaknesses; a marketing plan, which includes your marketing strategy, product strategy, sales strategy, and pricing strategy; your customer service plan; sales projections by product, in units, for at least three years; and finally a set of financials which include projected income and balance sheets with a Performa sales forecast.

Here are some other important suggestions and facts related to business planning:

Less than a third of small business startups have a business plan

A business plan does not have to be incredibly detailed for operational purposes

It should be a work in progress updated on a periodic basis

Particular attention should be paid to the marketing plan

A business plan is part of the first fifteen percent of the business development process which will assure the last eight-five percent will go smoothly

The executive summary should be written last, after the rest of the plan is in view.

2) Lack of Strategic Objectives

A business strategy is made up of carefully crafted words making up templates, which in turn act as filters through which all planning, tactics and decisions are passed through before implementation. A strategic objective is therefore, a business strategy developed to guide an organization in meeting business objectives. A strategic objective is developed from the owners vision, passion, core competencies and values for the business. Contact Emerald Business Services or go to our website for a worksheet you can use to develop these critical business development tools.

3) Lack of Marketing Strategies and Tactics

Marketing strategies govern the development of tactics, which in turn provide the actions items contained within your planning process. The most important aspect of your marketing plan is the development of promotion strategies and tactics, which feed your promotion planning and provide you with sales forecasting data. The promotion plan should also detail costs and anticipated unit volume so you can set priorities and provide sales forecasting data.

4) Management in the Place of Leadership

So why is leadership so important in growing a business? Because leadership is about doing the right things, management is about doing things right . In many ways, it is leadership that will grow your business from a sales and a stability perspective, and management that will make, or keep it profitable. Also, consider that the best companies focus ninety percent of their attention on external issues, not internally , leadership is primarily a focus on the external issues.

5) Poor or non-existent Systems

Most people think of computer systems when they hear the word system. But in the since it is used here it means all systems, including the system you use for selecting the right employee, for decision making within a department and so on. One of the more telling statistics in this area is the fact that ninety-four percent of all task or project failures are system failures2. Some of the more common reasons for system failure include:

Islands of automation verses integrated systems

Absent or non-existent policies, procedures and user manuals

Poor training.

6) Lack of Development of Leadership Style

Developing leadership ability has a lot to do with understanding the type of leadership required at different stages of your companys development. There are at least six different leadership styles identified to be effective at different stages of a companys development including; Visionary; Coaching; Affiliative; Democratic; Pacesetting; and Commanding . Understanding which leadership style to employ has been found to significantly increase the effectiveness, growth and heath of the companies in which leaders utilized multiple styles. Just as important is the understanding of what a leaders personal profile is. Armed with these vital bits of information a leader is equipped to pursue the right leadership style for the task at hand.

7) Care and Feeding of Sacred Cows

I do not have a statistic on the amount of money, time and energy expended on the sacred cows lurking in American businesses, but it has to be staggering. This list details some of the types of sacred cows you can look for in your business.

The way we have always done it

The product or service you keep pouring money into because you just know it will take off and be your future, (these are almost never accompanied by market research or even a promotional plan)

Resistance to growth through change

Idleness within the ranks, some experts believe ten percent of the poorest performing people should be let go each year to make room for people with fresh insights and ideas

The company airplane, automobiles, and other perks, which drain company recourses

The dead weight relatives and friends of the family who would be better off elsewhere, act as distractions, and add nothing to your bottom line

The expert that no one can live with, who holds a noose around the companies neck in the form of some expertise or an unwritten code of loyalty.

You could call this business 101, however, most of the issues developed in this paper are rarely taught in schools, much less heeded. These seven deadly sins can impede your companys ability to successfully navigate through the turbulent waters of business development. If you do not understand all the issues summarized in this paper, do the research; find a business advisor to help you navigate these storms , you owe it to yourself, your business and the people who count on you.

Conquering the devil in the details is what management is about, concurring the seven deadly sins of small business is what leadership is all about. The beauty of developing top-level leadership skills is that there is no downside, only opportunity for growth in both your business and your personal development. Leadership is what the entrepreneurial spirit is all about.

Develop your business plan, establish strategic objectives, establish marketing strategies and tactics, lead, build effective systems, utilize more than one leadership style and kill the sacred cows in your business, it might be the only thing that keeps you and your company from becoming another dreadful statistic.

Panama Bank Secrecy Laws

Today Panama has become the Switzerland of Latin America. There are 150 banks in Panama many of which have their name on a 40 story modern skyscraper. Panama is often touted as having the best banking secrecy laws in the world. This author believes this to be true and we will address the bank secrecy laws of Panama in depth.

The first important point to look at is the existence of any tax treaties that Panama may be in with any other countries. This is an easy topic since Panama has no tax treaties with any other countries. Tax treaties can be privacy invasive for a banking client. Under some treaties the bank must collect a certain percentage of taxes from interest income paid to the clients and this money is turned over to the clients home country. Other treaties call for an exchange of information so if a requesting country wanted to gather certain facts about a bank account or if a certain constituent of theirs had a bank account the bank would be obligated to provide the information. The European Union Withholding Tax Treaty is a very relevant treaty.

The next type of treaty one must look at is called the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty, or MLAT. This treaty allows countries to request information from other countries in the treaty. The general way this type of treaty operates is through diplomatic channels. Panama is in such treaties. The requesting country must have a criminal case on file in the national courts of their country. They would then cite this case already in their criminal courts when the request for information is made. The requesting country would a need to show that the requested information about the Panama bank account is absolutely required to successfully prosecute the case and that the requesting country has no other way to obtain such evidence. Then the request is considered by Panama. Panama may ask for more information. Panama could deny the request on whatever grounds they wish to use. Panama could also decide to conduct their own investigation because they feel that some Panama laws may have been broken and delay the MLAT request until after they have concluded their investigation which may be some years. The statue of limitations could expire before Panama completed their investigation. This is not to say that Panama is in the habit of thwarting requests for information but Panama does have a right to investigate crimes that took place in their jurisdiction. As a result of these investigations they could confiscate assets and prosecute individuals under their own laws.

For the MLAT to take effect the violation in question must be a crime in both the requesting country and the country the information is requested from. Various MLAT treaties have all sorts of details and exceptions and should be read individually if you are seriously interested in a particular treaty. Panama not only has no tax treaties with any other nation but all income tax related offenses in Panama are civil offenses only, not criminal offenses. So tax matters are not a crime in Panama. Thus Panama does not participate in requests for information in tax offenses. Panama does cooperate in certain areas freely. If one acts fraudulently while in the capacity of a fiduciary in a financial relationship Panama will cooperate. Panama also cooperates in cases of narcotics trafficking, money laundering, terrorism and child pornography.

The Panama Bank Secrecy laws are contained in a number of different legal statues. We will go through some of the relevant ones:

The Panama National Banking Commission was formed by Cabinet Decree 238 of July 2, 1970.

Article 74 of Decree 238 deals with protecting the privacy of Panama bank clients. It states that the Commission is prevented from conducting or requesting investigations concerning the banking affairs of any bank clients. Any data obtained by the Commission in the course of its normal regulatory functions may not be revealed to any person or authority, except if subpoenaed in accordance with the legal provisions in force (Panama Court Order required). If a violation of this occurred Article 101 of this Cabinet Decree contains provisions for the dealing of such a violation.

Article 101 of Cabinet Decree 238 states that:

"Any person who furnishes information in violation of this Cabinet Decree, or who violates any of the prohibitions established in it, for which no specific punishment is provided for, shall be subject to a monetary fine as determined by the Banking Commission, without prejudice to applicable criminal and civil liabilities." This is fairly strong language.

Article 65 of Cabinet Decree 238 deals with how the National Banking Commission may gain access to documents relating to the bank's operation, not individual records of banking clients. The Banking Commission needs to regulate the banks financially and thus inspect their books but this is mandated to be done on a collective basis, thus the books for the bank as a whole are inspected not the records for an individual account holder at the bank. The Banking Commission may not examine or inspect any type of individual deposit accounts, nor the securities held in custody by the bank for clients, nor the safe deposit boxes belonging to clients and their contents, nor the documents associated with receiving credit from the bank, unless there is a Panama Court Order in place that specifically authorizes such inspection or examination according to Article 89 of the Panama Commercial Code.

Panama statues specify that bank secrecy may be lifted by a Panamanian court through Article 89 of the Commercial Code. This is not a commonly invoked procedure but is possible concerning serious criminal activities.

Articles 168 and 170 of the Panamanian Criminal Code contain two sections which enables criminal prosecution for violation the privacy of Panama banking clients:

Article 168. Any person that is in legitimate possession of correspondence, records or documents which are not intended for public knowledge and notwithstanding discloses said correspondence, records or document without proper authorization, even in the event that they were addressed to him, shall be subject to prosecution, whenever such disclosure might inflict damage.

Article 170. Any person that in the course of his occupation, employment, profession or activity obtains knowledge of confidential information that in the event of being made public could inflict damages, and such person discloses that information without the consent of the concerned party; or in the case that disclosure of such information were not necessary to safeguard a higher interest, shall be punishable by imprisonment of 10 months to 2 years or a comparable fine, and the inability to practice his occupation, employment, profession or activity for not more than 2 years. One can readily discern that this would cover Panama Stock Brokers, and Panama Banks including all the employees and officers. This could also be construed to cover Directors of Panama Anonymous Bearer Share Corporations and Council Members of Anonymous Panama Private Interest Foundations.

Panama has done away with numbered bank accounts as have the rest of the offshore tax haven jurisdictions. This is due to pressure from FATF, the Financial Action Task Force. FATF is a private entity that unofficially dictates anti-money laundering statues to the banks worldwide. Numbered accounts are no longer allowed.

Panama through the use of anonymous Bearer Share Corporations accomplishes practically the same privacy as the old numbered bank account. The banks around the world including those in Panama must know who their customers are. This usually means getting identity documents such as passports, drivers licenses, national identity cards, and letters of reference from banks and businesses. The Panama Bearer Share Corporation is anonymous in that there is no reporting or recording of any stock ownership records in any registry or database thus it is impossible to determine who the natural persons are behind the corporate veil. This means when international wire transfers are sent only the name of the anonymous corporation appears in the wire, the true owner of the account is not revealed for the world to see same as it was when numbered bank accounts were allowed. With regards to writing checks the same applies assuming the signatory signs the check in a hard to read manner. To provide for more privacy Panama only allows an attorney to form a corporation or foundation. This cloaks the formation of the corporation with Panama attorney client privilege further protecting the owners of the corporation or foundation with an additional layer of privacy. In most tax haven jurisdictions the formation of a corporation handled by a corporate agent which does not provide privileged communication to protect the identity of the person owning the corporation.

One can readily see why Panama has become the new Switzerland of Latin America.

Building Wealth in Modern Society

Websters Definition of Wealth: abundance of valuable material possessions or resources, abundant supply, all property that has a money value or exchangeable value, overflowing stock of useful goods having economic value at any one time.

The word wealth originated from the old English word weal, which means well-being or welfare.

Wealth is basically defined as one having an abundance of goods and resources or the ability to possess any type of goods or resources in abundance with the exchange of money. Another portion of the definition of wealth is possessing real estate or personal property with an exchangeable value. Wealth can also be defined as a state of well-being or good health.

In modern society, we have an increasing number of avenues to obtain wealth. Society must simply gain the knowledge and skills necessary to implement the proper strategies and techniques.

Strategies/Techniques/Methods:

-INHERIT WEALTH
-MARRY WEALTH
-TAKE WEALTH
-WIN WEALTH
-STRATEGIZE FOR WEALTH

STRATEGIES FOR WEALTH:

One strategy is called triple compounding, suggested by Steve Sjuggerud. Sjuggerud is the writer of investment letter True Wealth. He unfolds, Your account can grow at rapid speeds for three reasons: First, you are adding to your account every month. Second, if you invest in growth mutual funds, your accounts NAV (net asset value) is likely to increase overtime. Third, all dividends and distributions are automatically reinvested.

One of the least practiced techniques for building wealth is to set aside money in separate accounts. Regardless of income, budget and stash away at least 10% of your income each pay period and do not touch funds under any circumstances. Many individuals get a set amount taken out of their income before they see their paychecks (in addition to 401k). A number of self employed individuals with various pay periods take a portion of their income and place it in separate accounts. After saving a nice sum of cash, do your research and let your money work for you by diversifying and placing cash in different investment vehicles.

A few other strategies to build wealth in modern society is to invest in online global marketing, real estate, land, construction, funeral homes, medical practices, retail and service sector businesses.

Basic Affiliate Internet Marketing

All of us would love to make a little more money. Sometimes just a little to supplement an income can be a huge help. Today it is easier that you think to get a little extra cash in your bank accounts. Most of us today have our own personal websites. We can get them for free and use them as a method to keep others informed of what we are doing. You can actually turn your website into a way of making some extra cash for you. By placing some audio books on your site, you have the potential to earn some cash.

When people go onto your site, if they see an audio book that is interesting and purchase it, you receive what is known as a referral payment. Gradually your earnings will increase as your website gets viewed.

You're not likely going to get rich with just your own personal website. However, it is a way to get started. There may come a time when you create another site and you can start turning this into a money making venture as well. You could sign up for an affiliate program and make money through their ads. To do this well you need to think of an appropriate affiliate program that readers of your site would appreciate. For example, if you site is about pets, you may want to look for affiliates that work with pet supplies, pet food or veterinary services.

Once you have a site up and running, you need to get a list of affiliate companies that will give you their advertising banners. There are loads of companies on the net that will help you. You can also get performance statistics on them as well. You will be able to track how much you will earn and how you will be paid.

Two companies that are incredibly popular are commission junction and link share. These will both help you find affiliates for your website. They have loads of good, accurate information available on what companies would be best and how well they perform.

Signing up for one of these affiliate programs is easy. You will be asked for personal information so don't be put off. This is necessary because they will be paying you commission money. You’ll be expected to give your social security number as well as take information. Once you sign up you will need to think about which programs to choose.

Commission junction has all of the information available on which companies pay which rates of commission. They also have information on how well and timely they make their payments. If a company is a shaky reputation, commission junction will know about it.

Another option is to sell audio books for your niche. Audio books have become very popular in the last few years. People enjoy the convenience of listening to books rather than reading them.

If you are looking to make a little more money then it is easy. Why not take the first step and turn you personal website into a way to make cash. Fill up those blank spaces with audio books and let the money roll in. you can always expand and create different websites. Affiliate programs are great ways to help you earn money. You can start off small with your own site and then expand into other areas. Eventually, you could build your own affiliate business. Look into affiliate marketing. It could be quite lucrative.

Car Magnets Are The Easy Way To Spread The Word

When I die, Im leaving my body to science fiction, was a quote on one of the car magnets that I read on my way to work on a Monday morning and it made me smile all the way. An amazing feat, since I am at my grumpiest best on Mondays. A quote, a well written message or even a visual representation has this quality of making people react. The reaction could either be positive or negative but there is a definite reaction, you simply cannot ignore it. The advertisers and marketers realized this a long time ago and have been good use of this tactic ever since. Advertisements are getting more and more whacky and innovative as the target audience becomes more and more discerning. Mediums of advertisement have undergone remarkable change and improvisation over the years with new modes of communication making an entry in the markets every now and then.

Car magnets are one such innovative medium that made an entry and have stayed in the market for their many advantages. Car magnets are not only economic but have the quality of putting across your message in the most effective manner possible. It also surpasses the need of the communication message being restricted to only one location, wherever the car goes the communication goes too, without any extra effort in the process. The car magnets have the ability to grab attention even when it is not specifically targeted at a particular audience group. This gives the advertisers and promoters a wider range and increases the chances of converting potential consumers into regular buyers in case the car magnets are promoting a particular product or service.

Car magnets are perhaps one of the most interesting ways to promote an idea or opinion and generate awareness. Social awareness campaigns can be spread to the masses through effective use of car magnets. As car magnets are easy to manufacture and economic to produce, they serve the purpose of promoting the message in the most cost effective way possible. Non profit organizations and help groups would find car magnets as the ideal solution to promote their cause to the general public. Easily customized according to the shape, design and style required by the promoter, car magnets can adapt themselves to any situation. Car magnets can be produced in bulk and distributed to a number of vehicle owners who would be happy to display a message that is well written and attractively designed. In this manner the message travels with vehicle and also spreads through word of mouth.

Car magnets can also be used to make a statement about the vehicle owner. A car owner displaying a car magnet that says Out of my mind, be back in 5 minutes, shows he is intelligent, funny and creative all at the same time. So car magnets form a feasible option for advertisers, promoters and individuals being an effective and economic form of communication. Next time you are considering a practical option to spread the word about a cause close to your heart, you may want to try out the option of car magnets.

The Different Types Of Affiliate Marketing

There are different types or classes of affiliate marketing, and the number of types will depend on how one classify them. However, the most basic affiliate marketing programs, falls under pay-per-performance (PPP).

Pay Per Performance (PPP)

PPP affiliate marketing is the most popular among merchant and is also the most lucrative type for the affiliates. In this type of affiliate program, the merchant only pays the affiliate whenever his referral translates into an action - that is whenever the visitor he has referred actually purchase something from the merchant's site or when the visitor becomes a lead. This means a lot of savings for the merchant as compared to paid advertising. On the other hand, it becomes the most lucrative type for the dedicated affiliate, for the commissions offered by the merchant in PPP affiliate marketing usually comes in the range of 20% to 75% of the actual product sales.

Pay-per-performance affiliate marketing can be further classified into two popular types: pay-per-sales (PPS) and pay-per-lead (PPL).

o Pay Per Sale (PPS)

In a pay-per-sale type of affiliate marketing, the merchants pay the affiliate a certain fee whenever the visitor he has referred to the merchant's site actually buys something from the merchant's site. Affiliates are often paid on commission basis, although other merchants would opt to pay a fixed fee. But no matter what the basis of the fee is, it is almost always a higher percentage commission and a higher fixed fee that would motivate and attract more affiliate to work harder for the merchant. This is a win-win situation, the affiliate earns more while the merchant gets more sales for doing nothing.

o Pay Per Lead (PPL)

The PPL type of affiliate marketing is a slight variation of the PPS type and is often used by companies who rely on leads for their company to grow. In this type of affiliate marketing, the affiliate is paid whenever the visitor he referred to the merchant's site fills up an application form or any similar form related to the business of the company. Compensation for this type of affiliate marketing is based on a fixed fee whose rates approximate that of the fixed fee in the PPS type.

Aside from these two main types of affiliate marketing, a lot of other affiliate marketing types exist. If the classification is based on the depth of the affiliate network, it can be classified as single-tier, two-tier, and multi-tier affiliate marketing. There is residual income affiliate marketing that pays the affiliate each time the same customer he has referred purchases the same product again or some other product from the merchant's site.

Single-Tier, Two-Tier, and Multi-Tier Affiliate Marketing

These types of affiliate marketing are based on the different levels or tiers in the affiliate network by which payments are made. These structures offer more incentive and further motivate the affiliates to work harder and very quickly build a fleet of affliates under the merchant.

In a single-tier affiliate marketing program, the affiliates are only paid based on the direct sales or traffic he has referred to the merchant. PPS and PPL affiliate marketing types) fall under the single-tier classification.

In two-tier affiliate marketing programs, the affiliate is not only paid for the direct lead or sales that he refers to the merchant's site, but also on every lead or sales referred by various other affiliates who joined the affiliate program through his recommendation.

Multi-tier affiliate marketing works the same way, that the affiliate gets additional commission for a wider number of affiliates in different tiers in the affiliate network.

Residual Income Affiliate Marketing

In residual income affiliate marketing, the affiliate gets paid not only once for the customer he has referred to the merchant's site. Rather, the affiliate is also paid whenever the customer he has referred returns to the site and purchase the same product or another product. Compensation for such type of affiliate marketing is based on either sales percentage commission or fixed fee basis.

The different affiliate marketing types would virtually work differently for merchants and affiliates alike, and each would generally have their own list of benefits. Which type of affiliate marketing will work best for a merchant? Rather, it is to choose which type of affiliate marketing program will suit the merchant's needs and characteristics best.

Five Steps to Making Money With Other Peoples Products

If you want to make money online without having you own products, selling other people's products could be the ticket. Selling others products has many advantages. You do not have to spend time on creating the products, you do not have to set up a system to sell and deliver the products, and you do not have to get a merchant account and pay recurring merchant account fees. The person who owns the product does all of these things for you. All you have to do is market the product and make money with it.

So how can you make money with other people's products? People who have created products usually run affiliate programs. An affiliate program is a way for you to earn commissions every time you sell someone else's product. When you sign up for an affiliate program, you will get your own unique id you use to link to products you are promoting. Once you make sales using your affiliate links, you will generate commissions.

Here are five steps to take to make money with affiliate products:

- Find A Product To Sell. Before going any further, you need to find a product that will sell. A product should have a professional appearance, be presented on a professional web site and be a quality product that you would want to recommend to others.

Once you find the product, join the affiliate program for it and get your affiliate links.

- Create A Web Site To Sell The Affiliate Product. Having your own web site to promote the affiliate products is best. I always recommend that you get your own domain name and web hosting to host your web site.

The cost of domain names and web site hosting has come down considerably since just a few years ago. You can now get a domain name for about $8 per year and web site hosting for under $10 per month. At these prices you don't have to be a millionaire or commit to a large capital outlay to start your own web site.

- Create Content For The Web Site. To get more visitors and more sales, you need content for your web site. It is not enough to just link to the product with your affiliate link. In order to make money with your affiliate link you need to bring potential buyers to your web site. A great way to bring them in is with content that is of interest to them, and is related to the product you are promoting.

One good way to generate the content for your web site is by creating your own content and articles that are related to the topic of the product you are promoting. Another good way is by using the articles that were written by the author of the product. Many authors allow their affiliates use the authors' articles on their web sites, and use the affiliate link in the resource box.

- Optimize Your Web Site for Search Engines. Search engine optimization is the process of modifying web page content and meta-information to improve the search engine ranking of the page. Successful search engine optimization will greatly increase the number of visitors that come to your web site. The more visitors to the web site you have, the more affiliate products you will be able to sell, and the more money you will make.

Make sure you optimize every page of your web site for search engines; that way you will get more web site visitors.

- Use Your Articles To Promote The Affiliate Product. Article publishing is a great way to drive traffic to your web site. Start by writing a few articles that are of interest to the people who would want to purchase the product you are promoting. Use the About The Author Resource Box to promote the product. Then take your articles and submit them to article directories. Doing this will bring more traffic to your web site and help you make more money.

Remember, you do not need to create your own products to make money online. Follow the five steps we outlined above to make lots of money selling other people's products.

Submitting Articles For Fun and Profit

When you place your articles on the web and on your websites and blog, be sure to include a link to your affiliate webpage. Your click through rate will increase, and will be more than banners alone can produce. Text links rather than picture links are actually the better clicked items.

So when you write your articles, put the link either in them or in your bio. Be sure to describe the affiliate product in the article.

You cannot make your article an advertisement for your affiliate, but you can make articles that would be used on your own web site and relate to your affiliate. The best place to put your links (up to two links) is in the author bio section at the bottom of your article. Some article submissions will not allow affiliate links, so put the link to your main page of your website and be sure that it has the affiliate link dominate on that website page.

You can make an article be a review of a type of product and include the link. But this is riskier and will not always be accepted.

When submitting an article to someone's individual website, you will need to make it clear that the author bio at the bottom of the article will need to be included if published on the site. However, if you are submitting to article submission sites, the bio box is always included, though on some sites you will need to add it at the bottom of your article in on other sites its a separate box you will need to put the information in.

By authoring articles you are becoming an "expert" in your field, and are allowed to "recommend" certain things. Be careful though, if the article submission site thinks you are advertising they may disallow your article.

Again the best way to avoid this is to include your link to your website (and on your website, have the affiliate link upfront and easily seen) in the author bio box. While there are other ways to include the link, this is the safest path, and the easiest to avoid rejections.

To avoid rejection, write an article which gives quality advice and information. Writing the article and submitting it to article submission sites is a good way to increase you search engine rank, and be seen as someone who knows what they are talking about. Not to mention, it will increase your traffic and your profits.

What Writers Must Know about Internet Commerce

Let's assume you're a writer and you want to make money by writing. In the olden days (last year, maybe) you would think up an article idea, hammer a few paragraphs out, and then check with some editors if they were interested in buying a finished product.

If you were lucky, you sold it. If you were not exactly unlucky, the editor rejected your idea but paid you to go out and write something else. And the most common response was a great big bunch of nothing. No response. No answer. No sale.

You have probably heard that a writer can make money on the Internet, but you're probably thinking, "How on earth is that possible?" After all, just about every job offer that comes to writers for Internet type stuff pays less than even a skinflint magazine editor would have paid ten years ago for the same material. The big difference is that the Internet publishers seeking writing support want their content virtually overnight and the old-fashioned editors did not mind giving you a few weeks.

There are two ways to make money on the Internet and they mirror the ways people make money in the brick-and-mortar business world. First, you can sell something. Whether it's ceiling fans or candles or airline tickets, you can make money if you have a product that you can trade to people for cash.

The other way you can make money online is by selling advertising. The best models for this include TV programs, magazines, and newspapers. Take a TV program; it's content that is offered for free to people who want to see it. A newspaper isn't exactly free, but it contains a lot of high-value content from around the world and it's offered at a very nominal fee (less than it costs to print it, I bet) to just about anyone who wants it. They'll even bring it to your house every morning! Who else will deliver for a product that does not even cost a dollar-for no extra shipping and handling fee?

Then there are magazines. They cost more but they're still a great buy considering the content you get, the articles, the pictures, and the sheer volume of printed pages.

So how do these enterprises make money? They do it by offering content that people want and then selling advertisement. TV shows make money because they sell some of their viewing time to advertisers who offer commercials. Newspapers and magazines do take in some subscription money, but the thing that keeps them in business is ad revenue.

And how do advertisers manage to survive? Smart businesses know the best opportunities for their particular type of advertisements. There's a whole science to that. If a well-placed smart commercial on a certain TV show increases sales, then everybody wins. The company earns money because the ad draws customers; the TV show earns money because it sells time (and eyeballs) to the advertiser.

You can build a website that features lots of top-quality content and then sell advertising on that site.

Now you can't just throw up any old site (and the operative word here is "throw up") and figure that advertising will work. You need a quality product. You also have to offer something of value.

That's where the good news comes in: you're a writer.

You can create your own online magazine of sorts. The goal is to attract people interested in the same subject to look at your site. There's a whole science to that, too. But if you do it right, people on your site may be interested in ads on related subjects.

The Internet is all about niches. Let's say you want to write about dogs. Bad idea. It's too broad for the Internet. With the Internet you have to think narrow. You could write about dog training. Or adopting poodles from the pound. Or photographing dogs.

The idea is that your highly targeted information will resonate with a particular subset of readers. With billions of Internet search a year, you don't need to have broad appeal to get a big audience.

Then you sell advertising. Now in the traditional business model, that meant pounding the pavement, talking to potential advertisers, and often working with them to get an ad finalized. Then you had to hound them for payment.

On the Internet, you can sign up with search providers to put ads on your site. These ads (offered by the big search engines) use electronic algorithms to automatically match ads by content to your site so that your dog training site won't offer ads for gastric bypass surgery. You don't sell a single ad: you merely clear some room for Google or Yahoo to put ads on your site. They match the ads to your content.

In the print world of our ancient ancestors, an advertiser paid if his ad ran, regardless of whether anyone responded. Internat ads work on a different model; they run for free and the advertiser pays only when somebody clicks on them. This is what is meant when they say advertisers pay for clicks.

The good news is that you can find qualified advertisers and start generating ad revenues from a website pretty quickly without ever having direct contact with your advertisers.

You can also get advertisers the old-fashioned way by selling space on your site to individual vendors. Those arrangements are worked out individually.

Savvy Internet entrepreneurs can make money either selling products (including electronic products like e-books or online courses and now even online audios) or selling advertising or a bit of both. There are strategies for what to use and how, but those are the basics.

So what exactly does this mean for us writers? Writers need to start thinking about what they write not just in terms of how to tell the story, but how to best position the content in the marketplace.

If you can set up a wholesale arrangement with local or even international vendors, you can sell products using a "shopping cart" type website, lots of photos, and some cool product descriptions.

If you have the expertise (or can get it) and can write about how to beat a speeding ticket, land a job working on a cruise ship, or sell your home without a real estate agent, you can write electronic content (e-book, e-course, other materials that are delivered online including audios and videos) and sell that.

First, of course, you have to understand how these kinds of enterprises actually function. Even some off-the-wall business angles are good to study, because the same principles always apply. You target a specific niche market, develop content to attract visitors, and then sell either advertising, products, or both.

Outsmart Fraudsters And Protect Your Identity

One of the most frustrating aspects of Internet Marketing is born in the WHOSITS database. This database, owned by Google, lets anyone see the information submitted when a small business owners purchases a domain name.

Unfortunately, anyone can gain access to the information. Most small business owners learn this within hours of buying a domain. The first calls come from internet marketing companies that promise to get their clients at the top of the search engines for a paltry $20 - $100 a month. Of course, what they dont tell the prospective client is they use black hat SEO tactics which usually lead to the site being banned forever.

The next set of calls come from telemarketers selling everything from magazines, to loans, to business opportunities. It is frustrating.

Filling in Forms

There are several ways to remain anonymous on the web. The most popular method is to use a bogus business name that leads to a PO box in a mailing center. This way, the fraudsters are frustrated by the ghost. And, if lucky, the business owner may entice the fraudster to use the information resulting in legal retribution.

There is also no reason to enter your real information into forms. Remaining vague, or using the wrong prefix before your name, can protect your identity.

Save Your Password

Everyone knows what spyware is. Few people know that it can tap into the save your information services on your PC. Many people use the fill form tools in Windows and in their computer browser. Spyware comes in, collects this data, and then sends it to fraudsters.

Never include any information in these boxes. Another way the PC collects sensitive data is the drop down box that asks Do you want to save this password. Always select no.

PC Protection

Any website that is linked to the internet needs a firewall, spyware cleaner, malware cleaner, and virus scan. AVG has a free virus scan that many businesses swear is the best in the world. It not only removes viruses, worms, and trogans, but also can remove malware.

Yahoo has a nifty little spyware remover on their browser tool bar. This tool, in conjunction with lavasofts spyware remover has offered many businesses almost 100% protection.

Windows comes complete with a firewall. However, many business owners shut this down and use ZoneAlarm.

These tools will protect most PCs from phishing attacks and spyware that roves the net looking for small business owners who must include their information on the web.

Web Information

Many small businesses must include their address, and contact information on their website. However, saving the information in a gif image makes it invisible to spyware and hackers.

Encrypting the email or leaving a space is another way to protect email addresses. Many small business owners are starting to show their email addresses like this: smallbusinessowner @mydomainname.com

Notice the space this makes the email addy invisible to spyware. However, users can copy and paste the link into their browser.

Instead of posting the email at all, why not consider adding a form to the website. Most forms can be set to automatically email the owner the moment the form is submitted but the information remains invisible to hackers.

One last tip: Change passwords once every two to three months.

Affiliate Tips and Tricks How To Make Money As An Affiliate

Affiliate marketing and internet sales continue to grow at an extremely rapid rate on the internet. Whether youre a novice or pro when it comes to affiliate marketing, there are still some things that each affiliate does differently to grow his or her internet business. We will try to break down the most effective methods used by affiliates all over the world today that are growing their internet business as we speak.

Free advertising

When most people decide to give the internet a try as a source of income, initially it can be a very challenging and daunting task to accomplish. Many people believe that it takes loads of startup capital to get a business off the ground on the internet. This idea simply isnt true. First off all, lets get one thing straight; anyone can advertise their business for free. Running a simple search in google for the keyword, free advertising, or business classified ads will bring up loads of places to place your ad for free. A few favorites are Us Freed Ads, craigslist and backpage.com. Placing an ad at anyone of these places will surely generate some free targeted traffic, and Google just loves Us Freed Ads.

List Building and Auto Responders

List building is probably one of the most effective forms of marketing online. Creating a website that captures a visitors name and e-mail can be a great source of future income. The mistake here is many people capture names and e-mails just for the sake of doing it. Visitors will be more inclined to fill out your form if you have something to offer them such as a free news letter or report giving away little tips and secrets. After you have captured the names and e-mails of possible consumers, use a auto responder to send them a series of e-mails explaining your product or service, but be sure to build a relationship with your readers first. Never try to sell them on the product immediately. Over time you will begin to notice a sense of trust being built and an increase in sales.

Article Marketing

The internet is full of information and hungry for more 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Writing informative articles about your product or service and submitting these articles to article directories greatly enhances the exposure of your website. Simply write an article on your product, submit the article and in the resource box, place some information on yourself and a link back to your site. If you are trying to sell products on dog training, be sure to use the keyword dog training in the title of your article for better Google placement. A few places to check out are ezinearticles.com goarticles.com and searchwarp.com. Not only will you build quality traffic to your site, but you will receive tons of quality back links to increase you websites PR as well.

Return Of The Monster

The Monster of the title is none other than Dollar Monster. Anyone who had dealings with Dollar Monster previously believed the beast had been slain by its owners but, it seems, it had just been banished and now is baaaaaaaaaack (as it says in its ads). Presumably the owners of Dollar Monster believe they have remained out of sight long enough for people to have forgiven or forgotten the events of 2004.

Dollar Monster pretends to be a friendly little monster who will help you to make money. It says: "DollarMonster's #1 priority is helping you make money!" In fact, its clear from the website that Dollar Monster will make the money for you and you can just sit back in your easy chair and do nothing. Dollar Monster claims to be the lazy person's way of making money; that should be a big enough hint that this program does not offer a legitimate way to make money.

Dollar Monster is a money doubler. Money Doubler programs enjoyed a brief spell of popularity back in 2004. Their popularity ended as one money doubler program after another closed owing members large sums of money and the whole money doubler industry was exposed as being a scam consisting of numerous pyramid schemes. The surprising thing is that the new Dollar Monster website refers to 2004 and to the notorious Easy Chair Club (sometimes described as the biggest Internet scam in recent history). It would seem more sensible for this site to pretend to have no connection whatsoever with the Easy Chair Club or the Dollar Monster that existed in 2004. In fact, it would seem more sensible to open up using an entirely different name because the people who joined Dollar Monster (or its sister site, My Magic Doubler) the first time round aren't going to be sucked in again and will warn people not to take part in the program.

The way money doublers work is that you pay money to the program, other people sign up after you and also pay money in. When enough has been paid in by new members, you get paid double the amount you first invested. The people whose money was used to pay you, get paid when members have paid enough cash in after them and so on

When money doubler programs are first launched, the cycle time is very short (it can be a matter of hours) but as more people join the cycle time gets longer because the number of new members required to cycle existing member positions grows exponentially. Eventually, the cycle time becomes so long the program ceases to attract new members and, when the cash injections dry up, the doubler stalls. With no new recruits bringing in cash, the members on the lowest level don't get double their money back, they lose all the money they paid in. At this point, the program and its owner normally disappear.

Money Doubler programs can survive for anything from a matter of hours up to several months. The ones that disappear within hours are normally run by outright crooks who had no intention of paying any money out to anyone. As soon as they have obtained a substantial sum of cash, they just vanish with it. If you are lucky you might avoid these particular crooks and might even make some money. One thing that is guaranteed is that if you aren't lucky enough to join at the right time, you will lose your money.

I hope the return of Dollar Monster does not signal the start of a new money doubler craze. People who were not around in 2004 might take to money doublers as a replacement for the rapidly declining autosurf for cash programs. In 2004 I fell for the story that money doublers were legitimate programs and the money they paid out came from advertising revenue. I speak from experience when I say that if you want to make money on the Internet, you have to work for it. Dollar Monster and similar money doubler programs are not an alternative to working for a living.

Google Webmaster Tool For SEO Experts

I just finished watching a video that shared some updates on what's happening at the major search engines lately. Since webmasters are always interested in learning more about search engine optimization (SEO) techniques, I thought it would be good to share a neat trick using Google's webmaster tools.

The first time I heard about Google webmaster tools, it was known as Google sitemaps. That was very little that we can do with it, except upload a sitemap so that a new site can be included in Google's index quicker. After toying with it for a couple of days, I find it a hassle to generate those sitemaps. If a website is destined to grow, that would mean taking up more time submitting those sitemaps. Strapped for time as it is, I figured it would be better to just concentrate on building more content for my websites.

It's still hard for me to refer to Google's new toys with a new name but I guess it's a much more suitable name, now that so many new tools have been added. To begin using the tool, login to the control panel using a valid Google username. If you do not possess one, just sign up at the site google.com/webmasters. After logging in, enter the URL that you would like to obtain more information about. You'll be required to verify that you own the site. To do so, you can either add a META tag or upload a HTML file. Verification is instant and you'll see your verification status as Verified if it's successful.

Upon verification, all kinds of interesting tidbits about your site will be available. The one that interests me most is the page analysis (Statistics > Page Analysis). This allows any webmaster to view information about external links. In other words, Google learns about a website's general theme from external text links. You'll be able to see all the keywords that other people have used in the text links that link to your site.

Many webmasters have already discovered the "secret" that anchor texts should be used in text links. Anchor texts look something like Anchor texts. There are many ways to obtain keyword targetted external links. One popular way is to submit to web directories.

In many instances, web directories allow webmasters to submit their sites for free. Some web directories become more established and may charge a small fee for a site submission. However, fees are usually one-time payment and are better deals compared to text links that require monthly subscription.

So, take a look around the webmaster community and spot SEO friendly web directories and start submitting some links. Your competitor may be doing exactly the same thing and I don't know about you but I hate to lose. See you at the number 1 spot!

Corporation and Its Juridical Entity

When man began relationship with his or her comrades, he or she made it sure that whatever agreement that may be arrived at by and between them would be considered as formal and that no one would be justified in running against such pact. So serious is this goal in fact that man found every ways possible of making his or her relationship and business actions with another individual as organized.

Business organizations have been a common sight in our industrial system and economic arena today. Business organizations have actually played vital roles in the economic system that we deem efficiently run today. There are several advantages in the formation of a business organization these same advantages have actually lured many business enthusiasts in establishing several types of business organizations.

One popular example of a business organization is a corporation. Corporation establishment has been so evident in our present day. Actually, it has been fostered by the Securities and Exchange Commission because of its efficiency brought to exchanges and transactions. A corporation is one composed of several individuals, which upon compliance with all the essential requisites for its formation, already becomes an entity of its own independent from all the other people forming it. Independence meaning that a corporation is already a legal entity having all the rights and privileges as if having an existence of its own.

The importance of a corporation having such a characteristic is that it may acquire properties, file suits, enter into transactions, and have ample resources necessary for its existence. So independent in fact that an officer of a corporation acting on his official capacity as a representative of the corporation and having appropriate authority to do so, cannot be held liable for his acts because his acts are considered as that of the corporation and not his own. This same principle is true as regards the properties owned by a corporation. Any property or financial resource owned by the corporation is viewed as property solely owned by the corporation and not by the persons forming it, notwithstanding the fact that the people forming the corporation are actually the same persons who contributed the same, and vice versa of course.

If you would like to acquire additional information as regards the establishment of a corporation feel free to contact any of our attorneys, all the necessary information as regards the establishment of the same to include documentary and financial requirements, and all the rights and obligations of a corporation upon its formation are available with them.

So Many Affiliate Programs! Which One Do I Choose?

You need to ask questions first before you join an affiliate program. Do a little research about the choices of program that you intend to join into. Get some answers because they will be the deciding point of what you will be achieving later on.

Will it cost you anything to join? Most affiliate programs being offered today are absolutely free of charge. So why settle for those that charge you some dollars before joining.

When do they issue the commission checks? Every program is different. Some issue their checks once a month, every quarter, etc. Select the one that is suited to your payment time choice. Many affiliate programs are setting a minimum earned commission amount that an affiliate must meet or exceed in order for their checks to be issued.

What is the hit per sale ratio? This is the average number of hits to a banner or text link it takes to generate a sale based on all affiliate statistics. This factor is extremely important because this will tell you how much traffic you must generate before you can earn a commission from the sale.

How are referrals from an affiliates site tracked and for how long do they remain in the system? You need to be confident on the program enough to track those people you refer from your site. This is the only way that you can credit for a sale. The period of time that those people stay in the system is also important. This is because some visitors do not buy initially but may want to return later to make the purchase. Know if you will still get credit for the sale if it is done some months from a certain day.

What are the kinds of affiliate stats available? Your choice of affiliate program should be capable of offering detailed stats. They should be available online anytime you decide to check them out. Constantly checking your individual stats is important to know how many impressions, hits and sales are already generated from your site. Impressions are the number of times the banner or text link was viewed by a visitor of your site. A hit is the one clicking on the banner or text links.

Does the affiliate program also pay for the hits and impressions besides the commissions on sales? It is important that impressions and hits are also paid, as this will add to the earnings you get from the sales commission. This is especially important if the program you are in offers low sales to be able to hit ratio.

Who is the online retailer? Find out whom you are doing business with to know if it is really a solid company. Know the products they are selling and the average amount they are achieving. The more you know about the retailer offering you the affiliate program, the easier it will be for you to know if that program is really for you and your site.

Is the affiliate a one tier or two tier program? A single tier program pays you only for the business you yourself have generated. A two tier program pays you for the business, plus it also pays you a commission on the on the sales generated by any affiliate you sponsor in your program. Some two-tier programs are even paying small fees on each new affiliate you sponsor. More like a recruitment fee.

Lastly, what is the amount of commission paid? 5% - 20% is the commission paid by most programs. .01% - .05% is the amount paid for each hit. If you find a program that also pays for impressions, the amount paid is not much at all. As you can see from the figures, you will now understand why the average sales amount and hit to sale ratio is important.

These are just some of the questions that needed answering first before you enter into an affiliate program. You should be familiar with the many important aspects that your chosen program should have before incorporating them into your website. Try to ask your affiliate program choices these questions. These can help you select the right program for you site from among the many available.

If you would like to see some of the Affiliate Programs that answer the above Questions go to http://www.myfreesurveys.com/kiwilite/home.htm and have a look.

MLMs, Affiliates, Pyramids Oh My!

In this article I want to give the readers a quick breakdown in the differences between an MLM, an Affiliate Program, and a Pyramid Scheme.

To put it simply, and Affiliate Program is basically a way for you to make money by referring people to a website where they can buy some type of product or service. If they buy, the company gives you a percentage. Thats how Amazon took off.

A Pyramid Scheme is illegal. Generally there is no product involved and it costs an x amount of money to start. All of the money that you paid to start goes directly to your sponsor. Then, when you sign up your own people you receive 100% of their startup costs as welldont get involved with these, they are illegal and eventually fall apart because they are not based on a product.

An MLM stands for multilevel marketing and is another way to create an additional stream of income. Let me use an example.

Lets say you go to a new store and you really like the product they sell. You buy it and it was even better than you thought. The next day you tell your friend about it and they go and buy some as well. The owner of the store is so happy that he gives you $10 for referring your friend and tells you that he will give you an additional $10 for every person that buys the product based off of your recommendation. You refer 10 friends and you get $100. Now you tell your friends to do the same thing and they go refer the product to other people just like you did. For every person they refer they get $10 as well, though the owner of the store also gives you a small percentage for your friends recommendations. (Ex. 5% or $0.50) Now your friends tell other friends how to refer people to the restaurant and eventually all those percentage slivers add up.

I hope this helps to clear things up.

How And When To Teach Your Kids About Money

As a child, money seems to somehow grow on trees as mum and dad always appear to have money to buy things.

Even though this is clearly not the case, its unfortunately the perception of children who live in a very consumer oriented world.

Rather than letting your child grow up thinking that money comes easily, you need to institute some form of education that teaches them how to understand and use money wisely.

Teach them young and they will carry forward that knowledge and live a better financial life. Heres a few tips how :

From ages 3 - 7

1. Show them the value of money by explaining what $2 can and can't buy. It may be an idea to do this whilst walking down the super market aisle or toy aisle (if you are game!).

2. Let them watch you pay for things. You may even start by letting them hand over the cash or pressing the OK button on the ATM.

3. Do not give them notes. Pay their pocket money in coins as your children need to understand how to allocate their money.

4. Show them how to visualise their goals. Get them to draw what they want to save up for. Keep the goals realistic otherwise they will very quickly lose interest.

What they learn -

Different things have different values.
Money simply doesn't grow on trees and that you have to work for your money.
You have to allocate your money for different things

From ages 7 - 12

1. Encourage them to participate in the school banking programme. This will give them a sense of regular commitment to savings.

2. Get them interested in looking at their bank statements and following how much money they are saving. This will get them used to scanning banking paperwork.

3. Get them to start thinking of a long term saving goal and work out how long it will take them to reach that goal.

4. Give them a combination of notes and coins for their pocket money. This will really strengthen their allocation abilities and efficient usage of spare change.

5. Start showing them the family bills and explain positively that the bills have to be paid to keep the family going.

What they will learn
Saving is a planned activity and something that needs a bit of thought rather that just putting away what's left over.
The value of small change
It takes a fair bit of money and good money management skills to keep a roof over their head.

For Teenagers

1. Encourage them to set up their own bank account and use internet banking.

2. Direct debit their pocket money into their account. This will get them used to dealing with intangible payments, and that electronic money is not just a set of numbers.

3. Make them responsible for their own bills such as mobiles. This is a very quick way to teach them how to spend wisely.

4. Try not to lend money to them for purchases that are of an extravagant nature. If they really want it, encourage them to get a part time job to save up enough. If you do loan money to them, do so only on the grounds that you will reduce the amount of their pocket money until the loan is paid.

5. Charge them board if they have a part time job - this will start getting them into the habit of paying their way for things they take for granted - like food and shelter!!

6. Introduce them to the concept of return on investment. Show them the value of putting some of their money into high interest savings accounts or even into managed investments.

7. Highlight the fact that if they start now they will be so much better off down the track.

What they learn

Not only will they learn more modern and more efficient banking techniques they will also learn how to curb their wants, or find ways to earn rather than going into debt for something that is not totally necessary.

It takes money to create money.
